7 Pointers on Preserving Canvas Prints
Canvas prints are priceless works of art that you should preserve and maintain properly. Whether these are your personal photographs or not, the memories that go with them are gems. Hence, you should strive to let them last forever. Here are 7 pointers on preserving canvas prints.
1. Do not expose to water
The canvas may be durable but most inks do not blend well with water. A drop of water can ruin a whole canvas if it drops in a sensitive spot. Ensure protection of your canvas by hanging them in places where they are not exposed to water or moisture.
2. Do not place near windows
That photo on canvas may look great when the rays of the midday sun strikes its vivid colors, but remember that too much of anything is destructive. Place your work of art in a place where it is not subjected to natural elements.
3. Do not expose to extreme temperatures
Exposure to extreme temperatures will ruin your canvas. No matter how durable a material is, if you subject it to anything extreme, it will eventually crumble. It may stay good for a few months but eventually it will succumb to destruction.
4. Do not stack them on top of each other
There will come a time that you may change residences and you have to pack your canvas prints for transfer. Do not stack them on top of each other. This may make them stick to one another, ruining your precious work of art.
5. Avoid moisture formation
Humidity indicates moisture and moisture produces water; so do not place your canvas photos in areas where it is too humid. Room temperature at 20--24 degrees centigrade is best for your collection.
6. Check your anchoring material
Your canvas photo may be the best image in your room but you can ruin that important image because of faulty anchoring material. Check the location where you plan to display your canvas; can it accommodate your canvas properly? You would not want your beautiful work of art falling off the wall, would you?
